- Shore Microsystems today announced the
release of the SM-2712 Intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Link
Protector. The new product allows network managers to create
redundant connections for their "mission critical" Gigabit (and subrate) connections by allowing simultaneous connections to both
a primary and backup network port from servers, routers, and other
key network equipment. The SM-2712 operates by monitoring the
primary link and, in the event of failure, automatically switching
to the backup link. Switchover speeds are adjustable.
The
SM-2712 Link Protector is Shore Microsystems next-generation link
protection platform offering the combined advantages of electronic
switching technology and proven Straight Through WireTM
relay/optical switch technologies. The unit initially
supports Gigabit, 100BaseT, and 10BaseT copper connections.
