Shore Introduces the SM-2701/2702 Intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Link ProtectorShore releases Gigabit Fiber Capability for the SM-2712 Intelligent Ethernet Link Protector |
Long Branch, NJ - August 30, 2007 - Shore Microsystems today announced the release of the SM-2701/2702 Intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Link Protector. The SM-2701/2702 Link Protector with its 1U chassis design, can accommodate 1 to 2 port cards and has functions identical to the SM-2712 Link Protector which is designed in a 2U chassis and can hold up to 12 port cards simultaneously. With the SM-2701/2702, network managers can now create redundant connections for their “mission critical” Gigabit (and subrate) connections to smaller and remote access areas using a one or two card configuration. By allowing simultaneous connections to both a primary and backup network port from servers, routers, and other key network equipment, the SM-2701/2702 operates by monitoring the primary link and, in the event of failure, automatically switching to the backup link. Switchover speeds are adjustable.
The SM-2701/2702 and SM-2712 Link Protectors are Shore
Microsystems next-generation link protection platforms offering
the combined advantages of electronic switching technology and
proven Straight Through WireTM relay/optical
switch technologies. The unit supports Gigabit, 100BaseT, and
10BaseT copper connections and 1000BaseF (available SX and special
order LX).

Long Branch, NJ - February 20, 2007 - Shore Microsystems today announced the release of Gigabit Fiber capability for the SM-2712 Intelligent Ethernet Link Protector. The new blade line allows network managers to create redundant connections for their "mission critical" Gigabit Fiber connections by allowing simultaneous connections to both a primary and backup network port from servers, routers, and other key network equipment. The optional new bypass feature provides for the passing of fiber traffic even upon loss of power to the Shore unit.
