Long Branch, NJ - August 30, 2007 - Shore Microsystems today announced the release of the SM-2701/2702 Intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Link Protector®. The SM-2701/2702 Link Protector® with its 1U chassis design, can accommodate 1 to 2 port cards and has functions identical to the SM-2712 Link Protector® which is designed in a 2U chassis and can hold up to 12 port cards simultaneously. With the SM-2701/2702, network managers can now create redundant connections for their “mission critical” Gigabit (and subrate) connections to smaller and remote access areas using a one or two card configuration. By allowing simultaneous connections to both a primary and backup network port from servers, routers, and other key network equipment, the SM-2701/2702 operates by monitoring the primary link and, in the event of failure, automatically switching to the backup link. Switchover speeds are adjustable.

The SM-2701/2702 and SM-2712 Link Protector®s are Shore Microsystems next-generation link protection platforms offering the combined advantages of electronic switching technology and Patented Straight Through Wire® relay/optical switch technologies. The unit supports Gigabit, 100BaseT, and 10BaseT copper connections and 1000BaseF (available SX and special order LX).  More information can be found at our website, www.shoremicro.com.
