Long Branch, NJ – October 26, 2009 – Shore Microsystems, the industry leader for redundant and bypass Ethernet technology, has now added Span Port Replication to its portfolio. This product expansion exemplifies the company’s uncomprising commitment to providing well-proven and innovative products, services and support to round off its comprehensive range of redundant, bypass and now port-handling technology needs.

Using Shore’s recently enhanced port mirror capabilities, the issue of too few span ports can now be handled easily, reliably, and with reasonable expense. The Span Port Replication features are provided in multiple hardware choices based on media and the amount of replication required. When placed in span mode, data is received on the router port and copies it exactly to the Appliance 1, Appliance 2, and switch ports. This multiplies the Span port count by a factor of 3. By adding other daisy-chained port cards to the system, additional multiplication is achieved.

Long Branch, NJ – July 31, 2009 - Shore Microsystems today announced the addition of a new port card for its Network Protection Chassis (NPC) product line. The new card, dubbed the SM-2701CS, duplicates and extends the functions offered by Shore's SM-2512 and SM-2508 Ethernet Link Protector®s. This card allows customers to move their Link Protection applications into the modular chassis offered by the NPC series systems while retaining the cost-effective functionality offered by the previous generation SM-2512 and SM-2508 Link Protector®s. The SM-2701CS provides traditional Link Protection using high-reliability relay technology with the density and serviceability advantages of a chassis/blade design. This card fills a need for less sophisticated requirements at a lower cost than the more extensive features offered by other SM-27XX port cards. 

“The SM-2512 and SM-2508 Link Protector®s have been very popular products for over 10 years in both commercial and military applications. Our customers continue to ask for the level of functionality offered by these products. Long Branch,  NJ - July 30,  2009  - Shore Microsystems today announced the availability of dual fixed redundant power supplies for its 1RU Network Protection Chassis(NPC) product line of Ethernet Link Protector®s and Bypass devices. The dual internal power supplies are an optional feature for the NPC-2 2-slot chassis to insure exceptionally high availability of mission-critical Ethernet links. The dual power inlet design uses high MTBF internal 110/220V 50/60HZ autosensing AC power supplies each of which can power the unit individually. Power supplies are monitored for proper operation and alarms are raised for failure conditions. The NPC-2 is also available in a single high MTBF power supply configuration for lower cost applications.

“The use of dual AC power inlets and redundant power supplies in the NPC-2 chassis was requested by our customers to add even more assurance of continuous uptime for their mission critical Ethernet links and applications” said Gary Steidl, Director of Sales/Marketing at Shore Microsystems. “Our engineers implemented this capability with dual filtered AC power inlets – not afterthought cheap wall-wart solutions - in keeping with Shore's high availability approach to Ethernet Link Protection. Long Branch, NJ - May 20, 2009 - Shore Microsystems released today a new firmware version for the Network Protection Chassis and corresponding SM-2700 Link Protector® and SM-2800 Bypass Switch Cards. This firmware nicknamed “Portection” allows protection from failure of mission critical Ethernet devices while individually, on a port-by-port basis, select failover times, delay times, alarm modes, packet watching, and packet launching capabilities. This full feature firmware is available as the Enterprise package for all Network Protection Chassis versions and is available immediately. Shore’s Network Protection Chassis allows networks to mix and match their protection needs into one chassis and to manage those functions through one interface. The NPC also offers a selection of failover and restore speeds, managers often wish to implement fast failover and restore delays. The NPC also passes traffic in Zero Power scenarios. The chassis is available in 2u twelve port or 1u two port versions.

SM-2700 Intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Link Protector®s allow network managers to create redundant connections for their "mission critical" Gigabit (and subrate) connections by allowing simultaneous connections to both a primary and backup network port from servers, routers, and other key network equipment. SM-2700 cards operate by monitoring the primary link and, in the event of failure, automatically switching to the backup link. Switchover speeds are adjustable. The SM-2700 Link Protector® is Shore Microsystems next-generation link protection platform offering the combined advantages of electronic switching technology and proven Straight Through WireTM relay/optical switch technologies. SM-2800 Bypass Switches allow network security managers to implement IPS and other inline devices while maintaining connectivity and integrity within a network. Long Branch, NJ - April 20, 2009 - Shore Microsystems today announced the release of the SM-2501P (Power Over Ethernet) Link Protector. The SM-2501P Gigabit Ethernet Link Protector® provides a programmable automatic link backup capability to "mission-critical" 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet links. The SM-2501P protects vital connections to servers, routers, and other key Ethernet devices that require fail-safe link operation. The SM-2501P operates by non-intrusively monitoring a "primary" link and, in the event of a failure, automatically switching to the backup link.

The SM-2501P does not require any additional network cards in a server and does not require router-level switch-over if a failure occurs. The backup link can be connected to either another port on a switch or an entirely different switch altogether for greater protection. The SM-2501P is powered from the Ethernet connection on the Primary or Backup link and is compatible with IEEE 802.3af standard, eliminating the need for a local power supply. The SM-2501P can also pass power to the protected device, thus providing a simple solution for adding redundancy to IP phones, Wireless Access Points, and other PoE powered devices.
