Long Branch NJ, - April 10, 2012 Shore Microsystems, the industry leader in the protection of mission-critical Ethernet links, today announced a new (IO) Contact Closure Card for the Network Protection System. The SM-2701IO card provides digital input and output capabilities to the Network Protection Chassis. The card allows up to 6 externally generated contact closure inputs that, in turn, can be used to drive other NPC port cards or port card groups. The SM-2701IO card also supports up to 6 contact closure alarm outputs to drive external alarm panels or other equipment. Output relays have a maximum 200V contact open circuit voltage, a maximum current carrying capability of 1.2amps, and a maximum overall power switching capacity of 10 watts.

Long Branch NJ, - February 8, 2012 Shore Microsystems, the industry leader in the protection of mission-critical Ethernet links, today announced a new Synchronous Serial (RS-530) Switching Card for the Network Protection System. Each SM-2701S port card provides three RS-530 synchronous serial ports intended for connection to primary and backup ports and one protected port. The SM-2701S detects clock activity and an alarm is generated if any link fails. If the primary clock is lost, the NPS will automatically switch to the backup link. By default, the switch is completed within 100 milliseconds after a link problem is detected. Once the primary clock is restored, the server port will revert to the primary link automatically. The link may also be forced to switch to the backup port manually. The connector is a 68 pin VHDCI-type connector that utilizes a specially designed cable providing 3 DB-25 RS-530 connectors for attachment to network equipment.
